Department of Home Commences Workshop for Accountants of Tibetan Settlement Offices.

DHARAMSHALA: The Department of Home, Central Tibetan Administration commenced a six-day workshop for accountants of Tibetan settlement offices, CTRC today at Nyatri Hall.

The objective of the workshop is to promote efficiency and transparency in accounting of the various Tibetan settlement offices and to provide accounting solutions to the respective offices.

The workshop was inaugurated by the Secretary of Department of Home Mr. Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang by lighting the auspicious butter lamp. Other guests at the opening ceremony were the Additional Secretaries of Department of Home Mr. Palden Dhondup and Mrs. Tsewang Dolma.

The Chief Guest Mr. Sonam Topgyal Khorlatsang congratulated the participants on taking part in the workshop. Commenting on the workshop's significance, he said, in the wake of new organisational standards and regulations in the 21st century, the role of accountants has become most significant.

Regardless of size and scale, organisations are required to keep track of their finances, transactions and budgets, as well as maintain transparency in the accounts, all of which require qualified accountants, he said, encouraging all the participants to take optimum participation in the training.

A total of 13 accountants from various Tibetan settlement offices in India are currently participating in the workshop.

The six-day workshop from 4 - 9 January will focus on tallying, income tax and budgeting.
