BANGALORE: Women’s Empowerment Desk, Department of Home, CTA concluded its three days “Workshop on Entrepreneurship Skills and Women Empowerment” on 7th September, 2016 at Institute for Small Trade Learning, Neelamangala, Bangalore. 37 ISTL trainees participated in the workshop from 5th to 7th September, 2016 which aims to inculcate entrepreneurial skills among the participants along with an understanding of importance of women entrepreneurs in our community.

Workshop resource person Mr. Sathya Kumar, Chartered Accountant took his sessions to explain about the scopes and prospects of becoming an entrepreneur in India. Miss Dechen Wangmo, WED, Coordinator took her sessions to upskill the trainees on entrepreneurship skills and discussed on gendered obstacles towards becoming a female entrepreneur. Miss Dawa (Hair Stylist, Head staff, Bodycraft) and Miss Tenzin Noryang (Beautician, Head staff, Green Trends) who are from 2006 and 2009 ISTL, Nelamangala batch shared their experience of success and struggles with the younger trainees to motivate them and give them a practical understanding of their profession.

The workshop was a success in terms of participant’s positive feedbacks on what they have learned throughout the session and how this workshop helped them to think about becoming a self-reliant entrepreneur in future.
