BIR: On his first visit to Kangra, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur of Himachal Pradesh visited Government Senior Secondary School in Bir on 28 January.

Representatives of Bir Tibetan Society, Nangchen and Derge Tibetan Settlements accorded a warm welcome to Chief Minister Thakur. Members of the local Tibetan community lined up the streets with traditional Tibetan scarves to greet him.

The Chief Minister exchanged greetings with each person as he arrived and accepted all the scarves offered by the Tibetans. Accompanying him were Health and Welfare Minister, Shri Vipin Singh Parmar and Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister, Shri Kishan Kapoor, who also exchanged greetings with the Tibetans and expressed delight at meeting the community.

During the visit, CM Thakur laid the foundation stone of an additional accommodation for the Government Senior Secondary School, Bir, and construction of the Mahakaal Temple ghat at Baijnath.
