CTA's Guidelines for Publication of News on the Official Website (Tibet.net).

To cater to the needs of the growing readership of tibet.net, the official website of the Central Tibetan Administration, the Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR) has formulated the following guidelines for publication of news on the website. The guidelines has since been approved by the Kashag on 6 January 2018.

CTA's Guidelines for Publication of News on the Official Website (Tibet.net)

The news section of Tibet.net, the official English language website of the Central Tibetan Administration is divided into three sub-sections namely News Flash, CTA News Reports and News from Other Sites.

News Flash:

The News Flash section will feature news articles or feature stories on the following:

- meeting with important government leaders (State Chief Minister, Central Ministers, Members of Parliament), renowned world figures, high profile media engagement, engaging in national and international events and spearheading significant projects, activities and events

Goal:

News Flash functions as platform to publish Headlines stories and Breaking News. The published items on News Flash will help tell the Tibet story and build the Tibet narrative in the larger global discourse on Tibet. The stories that are posted under this section will be either predominantly generated by DIIR Editorial team and parts of it will be based on submission of news reports from different CTA offices but will be published post a vetting and an editorial process.

The final content for News flash will be solely based on the discretion of editorial team and editorial management of the content.

Target:

The News Flash section functions as news source for the following target audience in order of importance:

CTA News Reports

Under this section, the news stories filed by the respective departments, OoTs, sections and offices of CTA would be posted. The articles posted under this section will mostly be related to the news worthy undertaking by the respective offices such as Kalon's official tours and public addresses, innovative projects and impactful workshops, trainings, health camps, awareness programmes, and article submissions by TPI researchers which is not a part of annual undertaking of the respective offices.

For submissions from TPiE, news stories entailing high-level advocacy, campaigns and promoting democracy at grassroots will be published.

Target audience:

  1. Tibetans in diaspora
  2. CTA
  3. Tibetans inside Tibet

The final content for CTA News Reports will be solely based on the discretion of editorial team and editorial management of the content.

News From Other Sites:

This section will publish news or research articles on His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tibet, Tibetan people, CTA, CTA President and meritorious individual stories published primarily by mainstream media (non-CTA sources). This section will also feature stories on China, Sino-India relations, Sino-US relations, etc. The posts published under 'News From Other Sites' are subject to the editorial management of its source and Tibet.net has no say or sway in the content management.

The purpose behind featuring 'News from Other Sites' section on Tibet.net is to allow the dedicated readers of Tibet.net to keep themselves abreast of news on His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tibet and Central Tibetan Administration published in non-CTA media outlets.

While we aim to deliver the most accurate, up-to-date news and information on His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Tibet and CTA, we also strive to deliver a wider access to global discourse and a diverse range of information to our readers.
