US Ambassador to India Visits Dharamshala.

DHARAMSHALA: Ambassador Kenneth Juster from the US embassy in New Delhi visited Dharamshala on a two-day official visit from 3 – 4 May 2018.

During the two-day visit, the ambassador had an audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama on 4 May and met CTA President Dr Lobsang Sangay twice.

The Kashag of the Central Tibetan Administration also hosted an official dinner reception followed by cultural performances at the Tibetan Institute of Performing Arts for the visiting dignitary.

Following the audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the Ambassador said he had discussions on a wide range of issues with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. He expressed that he was particularly inspired by His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s views on how inner peace of individuals can be spread and bring broader peace to mankind.

He also said that he requested His Holiness the Dalai Lama to visit the United States again in the future.

The ambassador is accompanied by a four-member delegation from the US embassy consisting of Anood Taqui, Special Assistant; Derek Westfall, Deputy Political minister Counselor; Thomas Kress, USAID, and Raj Marwaha, USAID.

A former US government official, Ambassador Kenneth Juster was appointed as the US ambassador to India in November 2017. He previously served as the Deputy Assistant to the President for International Economic Affairs and Deputy Director of the National Economic Council in the United States Government from January 2017 to June 2017.
