On his 4-day tour in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh, Shri. Pema Khandu, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh today paid a visit to Choephelling Tibetan Settlement, Miao where he was received with white scarf by Mr. Tenzin Chokden, Tibetan Settlement Officer (TSO) followed by offering of Tibetan wine & roasted barley-butter a traditional Tibetan welcome along with Tashi Sholpa, Tibetan traditional dance. Shri. Samlung Mossang Hon’ble MLA, Shri. Sunny, K Singh (IAS) Additional Deputy Commissioner-Miao, Mr. Wangchen Dakpa-Chairman LTA and other representatives/staffs were also there to welcome Hon’ble Chief Minister.
HCM then paid a visit to Pema Choelling Settlement Monastery where he was received by Ven. Tulku Pema Choeying Rangdol who is head of the monastery. HCM then inaugurated the basketball court funded by Dept. of Health (Central Tibetan Administration). HCM also visited carpet weaving centre & carpet showroom of Co-operative Society followed by a visit to the Tibetan Primary Health Centre. Tibetan breakfast was served to HCM along with the other VIP guests in the community hall. Settlement Officer then gave a power point presentation giving brief introduction about the settlement and its livelihood, benefits received from the State Government followed by the problems being faced i.e., road & drainage, waste management and power supply (transformer in each camp). HCM graciously agreed to help on these problems and also promised to sanction budget to carpet centre building presented by Settlement’s Co-operative Society focusing on the importance of Tourist attraction centre and also to keeping alive the Tibetan tradition.
A medicine Buddha statue was presented to Hon’ble Chief Minister by the Settlement Officer and Chairman of Local Tibetan Assembly. Tibetan Co-operative Society & Pema Köpa Central Welfare Association also presented a memento to HCM followed by mementos to the other VIP guests by the camp leaders after which HCM left towards Miao town. The overall visit of Hon’ble Chief Minister in Choephelling Tibetan Settlement was very successful.
